In the fall of 1968, Greater Atlanta Christian School (GAC) first opened its doors with 150 students in grades 7-11 in Norcross, GA. In the early decades, the motto of “quality education in a Christian environment” was broadly used to share a vision of a Christian school of champions. The Mission Statement currently used by GAC was adopted in 1994:
The mission of Greater Atlanta Christian School is to help each student grow as Jesus did in wisdom, and stature, and in favor with God and man.
For over 50 years, GAC’s leadership has propelled the school forward while ensuring it remains tethered to its mission. Today, our campus boasts 25 buildings, 1500+ students, and a dozen athletic facilities on 88 acres. A long list of vibrant and creative alumni have obtained success in more ways than we can count. Throughout the years, GAC has been named a National School of Excellence (1989), National Blue Ribbon School (1999), All Kinds of Minds School of Distinction (2009), as well as being recognized by the Apple Corporation as an Apple School of Distinction for 8 consecutive years in a row. Educators from across Atlanta and across the country have come to GAC to study, borrow ideas, and improve learning and faith practices. GAC has passed the test of time with flying colors.
